Photographer’s Notes
The Yellow-Crowned Night Heron is usually very cooperative and lets me approach for portraits, but I startled this one. He flew up to a branch, looked me over, turned, and took off. So I got an excellent, unusual view of his wing structure as he flew away. Not every portrait needs a face!
